At 1402 hours a full assignment was dispatched to 172 Saw Mill River Road (4 story wood frame multiple dwelling) for a water flow alarm, with accompanying 911 calls reporting a structure fire.
Prior to arrival of the fire apparatus, PD units on the scene confirmed an apartment fire at the reported address.
Responding units found a sprinkler controlled fire on the second floor.
Searches and overhaul were conducted, while the sprinkler system, gas and electric were shutdown for the entire building.
Con Edison gas & electric and the Greenburgh Building Dept were on the scene.
The structure was closed, with approximately 35 displaced tenants being relocated by the Red Cross.
