An average of 200 home fires are caused annually because of improper care and use of live Christmas trees.
When you choose a live tree, opt for one that is green, without brown needles.
Cut off about 2 inches at the bottom of the trunk and put the tree into a sturdy water-holding stand.
Keep the stand full of water, and check often to make sure the tree is “drinking” the water.
If the water isn’t going down, the trunk may not be reaching it; and the tree could be drying out, making it more flammable.
Anchor the tree to prevent children or pets from knocking it over.
Have a safe and enjoyable holiday season!!!
